The Beach Reads Book Club by Kathryn Freeman

Welcome to the Beach Reads Book Club…where love is just a page away…

When Lottie Watt is unceremoniously booted out of her uptight book club for not following the rules, she decides to throw the rulebook out the window and start her own club – one where conversation, gin and cake take precedent over actually having read the book!

The Beach Reads Book Club soon finds a home for its meetings at Books by the Bay, a charming bookshop and café owned by gorgeous, brooding Matthew Steele, and as the book club picks heat up, so too does the attraction between Matt and Lottie.

If there’s anything Lottie has learned from the romances she’s been reading, it’s that the greatest loves are the ones hardest earned.

A love letter to chicklit, romance, romcoms, whatever you want to call them!

My Thoughts

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

After being pushed out of the local book club by the overpowering Eve who refuses to let go of any control, Lottie makes the decision to start up her own book club that allows people to enjoy romance and a good get together too. But before she can make this club a reality she first needs to find somewhere to host them.

This is where Matthew Steele comes in to the story. He has recently bought Books On The Bay – a small bookshop and café venture following his move to the small village alongside his sister and Father. Initially he is rather reserved and reluctant to engage in conversation, but there is an instant spark between himself and Lottie that has him agreeing to let her use the shop for her book club meetings.

The more time that they spend in one another’s company the closer they become, and as they both begin to let their walls down and let the other in, Matt finally feels as though he could be getting his happily ever after. But when a face from Lottie’s past threatens to ruin everything they have built between them, they have to work out just what they mean to one another. The bookclub soon plays a pivitol role in both of their lives, providing them with friendships and memories that will last a lifetime.

I have adored every single book I have read by Kathryn Freeman, but the Beach Reads Book Club has secured a special place in my heart. From the moment the story begins Lottie is a character that you can really relate to. She has had to work hard to build up her business and make a life for herself, and those around her. All of the characters have well fleshed out personalities that provides some truly hilarious and heartwarming dialogue between them.

A fun, refreshing storyline that allows you to be swept away with this cast of vibrant characters. I adored this book and would urge everyone else to experience it themselves!

About the Author

A former pharmacist, I’m now a medical writer who also writes romance. Some days a racing heart is a medical condition, others it’s the reaction to a sexy hero.

With a husband who asks every Valentine’s Day whether he has to buy a card (yes, he does), any romance is all in my head. Then again, his unstinting support of my career change proves love isn’t always about hearts and flowers – and heroes come in many disguises.
