Wicked Little Deeds by Kat Ellis

From its creepy town mascot to the story of its cursed waterfall, Burden Falls is a small town dripping with superstition. Ava Thorn knows this well – since the horrific accident she witnessed a year ago, she’s been plagued by nightmares.

But when her school nemesis is brutally murdered and Ava is the primary suspect, she starts to wonder if the legends surrounding the town are more fact than fiction.

Whatever secrets Burden Falls is hiding, there’s a killer on the loose, and they have a vendetta against the Thorns…

My Thoughts

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

When Ava loses her parents in a tragic accident, she is put under the care of her Uncle Ty. With only ten years between them, he uncovers how much the family business is worth and makes the decision to sell the manor that Ava had grown up in. He moves himself, his wife, and Ava to a smaller cottage that is still within the village. But when Ava learns of who has purchased her old home she is left reeling – the last person she wants there is the local ‘mean girl’.

When awful things start happening shortly after the new tenants move in, the harrowing tale of the girl who haunts the bridge on the grounds of the manor starts to take a much larger form as the bodies that are found have had their eyes gouged out in the same way as the original victim Sadie had.

As people start looking at Ava as a suspect for the rising number of murders taking place, she makes it her own personal mission to uncover who is responsible and why they are doing these things. But the strain of the situation soon catches up with her and she finds herself unable to cope with the trauma of all she has seen and experienced over the years. Can she clear her name and get her life back on track or will she become the next victim?

Kat Ellis has once again provided us with a chilling story that consumes you from the start. The storyline is perfectly structured and sets the pace with an ever rising level of suspense from the first chapter gradually increasing until the story reaches its climax. Each of the characters have deep, complex personalities that really drive this tory forward and makes this book all the more difficult to put down.

A brilliantly written, utterly chilling tale that will prove impossible to forget.
