Can a Hollywood romance work in the real world?
Ben Stephens has never been one to mix business and pleasure, but when he lands a huge ad campaign featuring movie star, Anna Gardiner, and it turns out she’s as funny and down-to-earth as she is gorgeous, Ben can’t help flirting a little.
Anna Gardiner is hoping this ad campaign will be a great distraction while she waits to hear if she’s booked her dream role, but she doesn’t anticipate that Ben Stephens might be an even bigger distraction…
After a family emergency and a late-night road trip moves them past light-hearted flirtation, Ben and Anna grow closer. But when Anna’s manager decides to use their fling to help Anna’s Hollywood career, will Ben be content to play the background role in Anna’s life and leave when the cameras stop rolling? Or could he be the leading man she’s looking for?
PERFECT FOR FANS OF SOPHIE RANALD, JO WATSON and ZARA STONELEY!
My Thoughts
⭐⭐⭐⭐
This is the first book I have read by Jasmine Guillory, and I can certainly say it will not be the last!. While We Were Dating follows the story of Ben Stephens. He works in advertisement and knows he is good at his job, so when his co-workers are unable to attend a big meeting the company has lined up, Ben is more than happy to step in and take the lead.
When the person hired to take the lead in the advertisement turns up – and is non other than the beautiful actress Anna Gardiner. Ben does an incredible job of the presentation, so much so that Anna convinced the tech company she is working with to employ his company for the job.
As the shoot gets underway Anna and Ben spend more time with one another and the first sparks of attraction begin to fizzle away between them. Their chemistry is clear for everyone around them to see, and this is what prompts Anna’s manager to suggest that the pair embark on a ‘fake-relationship’ for publicities sake as she attempts to heal her reputation and land herself a leading role once again. What happens next is a whirlwind of laughter, romance and fun as they attempt to keep the ‘fake-couple’ charade going.
I fell in love with this book instantly. Ben is such a gorgeous character who really shines throughout this book. He has a good heart and is handsome to boot, there’s very little to not love about him. Anna is a character who I took slightly longer to connect with, but as the story progresses you get a much clearer insight as to who she is and why she has behaved in the way she has over the years.
Alongside a cast of vibrant supporting characters and a dreamy storyline that warms your heart entirely, this is certainly a must read book for the summer.
