As someone who has been a long standing fan of Jeffery Deaver, the excitement of being asked to take part in the blog tour for his latest novel had me so incredibly excited. As soon as you pick up one of Deaver’s books, you know you are in for one hell of a read.
The Final Twist is the latest instalment in the Colter Shaw series, and in this novel we see him take on his most personal case to date. Colter is searching for the truth behind his fathers murder, and his determination to bring the people responsible to justice, along with getting some revenge on his fathers behalf really pushes Colter through. He already knows that his fathers life was taken by an operative who works for the elusive and incredibly dangerous BlackBridge company, but now he is determined to put a stop to them for good.
Shaw’s investigation takes him to San Francisco as he tries to unravel the missing evidence that his father was so close to uncovering. Whilst here, Shaw comes face to face with a familiar face from his past, alongside many obstacles blocking his way in this case. Can he get the answers he needs and finally get justice for his father?.
The thing I love about Jeffery Deaver’s books is the way in which the story is told. You get a real sense of the characters state of mind, and an in depth look view as to how he tackles the cases presented to him along the way. Each of the characters have complex, well fleshed out personalities that add extra depth to this already captivating story. I once again found myself on the edge of my seat as we followed Colter’s journey to finally getting the justice he so desperately desires for his father.
A thrilling, fast paced and unpredictable read, this is certainly one of Deaver’s best books to date.
