Life’s A Beach

Sun, sea and inescapable exes…

Peach is excited to hear that her sister, Di, is getting married. Of course, she would have preferred her little sister to be engaged to someone she’s known longer than a week – and the fact that his name is Charles doesn’t bode well – but who is she to judge?! Afterall, her own love life is non-existent, and who doesn’t love a destination wedding…?

Whisked away to the gorgeous Italian coast, Peach assumes her role as chief bridesmaid and, despite her reservations about the groom, she tries to ensure everything goes to plan.

But weddings are never straightforward affairs… throw in some unexpected guests in the form of ex-boyfriends and one night stands, and soon enough there is more drama than a reality tv show.

Can Peach keep the show on the road, or might she end up in a whirlwind romance of her own…?

Escape to the stunning Italian coast with bestseller Portia MacIntosh. Perfect for fans of Sophie Ranald and Mhairi MacFarlane.

My Thoughts

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

If you are looking for romance, escapism and fun, then this is a book you simply have to read.

Whilst Peach waits at the airport to pick up her younger sister Di who is returning from a friends wedding, she is excited to get to combine a much needed catch up with her sister with her latest job as a mystery shopper, this time in a nice hotel near the airport. When the flight is delayed by several hours, Peach finds herself talking to Matt – a man who is also waiting for someone on the flight.

Realising they have a long wait ahead of them, Peach Invites Matt to join her in her sisters place at the restaurant, and as they enjoy each others company, along with an abundance of alcohol, one thing leads to another. When Peach wakes up the next morning to find Matt has left without so much as a goodbye, she feels both hurt and frustrated at Matt and herself for doing something so far out of her comfort zone.

Peach returns to the airport to collect her sister, but when her sister blurts out that she has got engaged to a man names Charles who she has known for little more than a week, Peach obviously has reservations and concerns for her sister, but forces a smile on her face as the whirlwind wedding becomes a very real reality. What unfolds when they arrive on the secluded Island that the wedding will take place is full of hilarity and charm, and we meet a wide cast of characters that make this story all the more delightful.

As soon as I pick up a book by Portia MacIntosh I just know that I will end up completely and utterly immersed in the story, and this one was certainly no different. The storyline was so wonderfully written, you really felt connected to Peach from the beginning. She has such a big heart, and the bond she shared with Di is so heartwarming and lovely to follow. The detail put in to the setting was marvellous and really allowed me to feel as though I had travelled to the island alongside the characters, something I so desperately long to do right now.

The book had a truly unique storyline that kept me invested to the very end. I found myself rooting for Peach and Di, and wanting them both to find happiness no matter where it may be found. This is an utterly charming story that I couldn’t put down!.
