Keep My Secrets by Elena Wilkes #BlogTour

A life built on lies – now the truth could destroy her

Frankie Turner knows what it’s like to be unwanted; she was brought up in care. Now as a social worker to kids in the same system, she’s someone who understands … But Frankie is hiding an unthinkable secret: one that may have its roots in the murder of a young, beautiful woman fifteen years ago.

Yet the past is out there. Someone knows what Frankie is hiding – and now they’re back to shatter her perfectly constructed life, terrorising her with menacing letters and silent calls to the house she shares with husband Alex.

She may have reinvented herself, but Frankie’s past is back to haunt her – and now, there’s nowhere to run.

A gripping psychological thriller that will have you hooked. Fans of Lisa Jewell and Erin Kelly won’t be able to put this one down.

My Thoughts

Frankie Turner has had a rather difficult start to life. Between growing up in the care system, fighting with girls at her school, and getting mixed up with drugs, she is certainly struggling. When Frankie meets Martin Jarvis, she feels as though she has finally found her soul mate, the person who she is going to spend her life with. However, what occurs next is Frankie’s worst nightmare.

Fifteen years later, Frankie has worked hard to get her life back on track, and to conceal her dark past. Frankie’s marriage is far from perfect, and as they are battling their way through a rough patch, it appears that someone is determined to rake up all of her secrets. Secrets she is determined to keep hidden from her husband.

Who exactly is trying to get to Frankie? and why have they left it for so long before doing so?.

This is such a gripping story, I found myself reading it in one sitting!. Elena Wilkes has created a story that is full of complex characters, most of which are rather unlikeable, but this is what actually makes the story all the more engrossing, as each character has motives.

The story alternates between a past and present tense, allowing us to get to know Frankie on a much deeper level. As we near the end of the book, the past and present slowly begin to merge together, providing us with a dramatic, suspenseful ending.

This is one of those books you simply find impossible to put down. With the perfect levels of suspense and drama throughout, this is an absolute page turner that I would certainly recommend to others.

About the Author

Elena Wilkes grew up in Walsall in the West Midlands and then worked for eighteen years in H.M Prison Service. The people she met there provided the basis for all her novels.

Many of the prisoners there came across as very ordinary people who had committed the most appalling crimes but would, one day, walk straight back on the streets.

This begged the question: how much do we know about anyone, really? The people who live amongst us may seem no different from us at all, but when you scratch a little deeper, you realise they hold some very dark secrets.
