The Dare by Lesley Kara. #BlogTour

When she was thirteen, Lizzie lost her best friend in what she always believed was a terrible accident.

Even though she was with Alice when she died, Lizzie has no memory of the accident itself. Now there is doubt around if it was in fact an accident at all.

Alice’s friends and relatives seem to suspect Lizzie had a part to play in Alice’s death, but Lizzie knows that can’t be true. She would never have hurt Alice.

Twelve years later, unpacking boxes in the new home she shares with her fiancé, Lizzie is finally beginning to feel like she can move on with her life.

But someone has other ideas.

Twelve years is a long time to wait, when you’re planning the perfect revenge.

My Thoughts

The description of this book instantly grasped my attention, and I can honestly say I was not left disappointed.

Teenagers Alice and Lizzie who are lifelong best friends, but when their favourite walk ends in a tragedy, Lizzie finds herself having to find a way to move forward with her life, but nobody can possibly begin to comprehend the amount of guilt that Lizzie has been carrying around with her since that fateful day.

We meet Lizzie again twelve years later. She is now married with her handsome husband who is a GP, and everything seems to be going well for them. That is, until mysterious things start to occur around her, things in which bring her back to the final day spent with Alice, and it brings all of the feelings that Lizzie experienced at the time back to the surface.

This book was a truly fantastic psychological thriller. The storyline was perfectly paced, with the suspense levels increasing as the story began to unfold. The way in which the author brought the story to life was incredible. The flashbacks that we encounter throughout the story are truly chilling and add a whole new depth to this already addictive read.

The characters are well structured and have well developed, complex personalities which we come to learn more about as the story progressed. The characters were all realistic and believable, and the ways in which their past’s affect the story is marvellous.

Fast paced, chilling and completely consuming, this is a book you simply must read!.
