My Thoughts:

As soon as I read the description for this book It piqued my interest, so when given the opportunity to read and review it I jumped at the chance, and I am glad to say that it certainly did not disappoint.

This is the third instalment in the DI Matt Denning and DS Molly Fisher series, which is truly lining itself up to be a remarkable collection of books. The story starts out with a case which seems quite straightforward, with the circumstances surrounding the case giving nothing away. However, that soon changes into a case that is full of twists and turns and really does leave the reader trying to fathom out the mystery alongside the detectives!.

The characters Denning and Molly are both very likeable. They both have their own unique personalities which gel together, and in turn compliment each other wonderfully. Denning is an older, more mature man who knows the politics needed to succeed in their line of work. Meanwhile, Molly certainly acts more on her impulses and her gut instincts. When you put them both together, they are quite a force to be reckoned with.

This book really captured my interest right from the start. The storyline is perfectly paced and keeps the reader guessing right until the very end. With so many twists and turns that you simply don’t expect, this book is without a doubt an absolute page turner and a definite must read.

Author Bio:

Graeme Hampton was born in Paisley, and grew up in Stirling. After leaving school,
he trained as a stage manager and worked in London for a number of years. He
returned to Scotland in his late twenties to study for a BA in English Literature at
Stirling University. His first novel, Know No Evil – featuring Met detectives DI Matt
Denning and DS Molly Fisher – was published in 2019 by Hera Books. This was
followed by Blood Family in January 2020. The Darkness Within is the third novel in
the series.
